What is Blizzard's Warranty on Batteries?
We know, batteries wear out over time and are sometimes different from fixture to fixture based on how much the fixture is used. Even sitting on a shelf for long period of time can be bad for the battery, as well. Lithium batteries love them some exercise. For these reasons and many others we consider a battery a "wear and tear" item and we warranty it for 1 year to be free of factory defects.
How Long should my Battery Last?
The typical, tested timeframe for the Skybox battery is with all LEDs on (RGBAW+UV and with the output settings on HIGH, a new battery should last 3-4 hours. On a single color output, the battery could last 10+ hours. Running a fixture on full 100% power will deplete your battery the fastest, of course. However, when running a static single color these batteries can provide many more hours of runtime.
The battery meters on these lights are, unfortunately, not the greatest at providing perfect feedback. The programming is such that when a battery reaches a "Charged - Green LED" state, the battery indicator might still be showing a missing block. This is because that final block reads at 100%. Once the battery voltage drops even a little from a slightly weaker cell, the final battery indicator block will go away. Sometimes it will not show up even if fully charged.
The best way to test your battery is to charge it up and note the charge time. This should take around 4 hours. Then, run it on Full Color and High Output Mode to see how long it lasts. There are other methods as well, but this is an easy one to perform onsite, if needed. Please refer to the Power Output Mode section of the manual to learn about different battery settings and how they can change the battery runtime.
